Each summer, we open 100 volunteer slots for individuals who want to contribute directly to the Noah's Ark research project. Volunteers travel to eastern Turkey and spend one or more weeks working alongside our team at the Durupinar site near Mount Ararat.
The program runs from July through August, with flexible one-week sessions available throughout the season. Volunteers contribute $500 per week, which covers accommodation in nearby Dogubayazit, daily meals, site transportation, and project materials. This contribution ensures the program remains sustainable and allows us to keep improving the site year after year.
No prior experience is required — just a willingness to work hard, a sense of adventure, and a desire to be part of something meaningful. Whether you're a student, retiree, or somewhere in between, there is a role for you on the team.

Help build and improve walking paths around the Durupinar formation so visitors can safely explore the site and surrounding terrain.
Assist with renovation and preparation of the on-site visitor center, including display installation, signage, and facility improvements.
Photograph and catalog site features, assist the research team with measurements, and help maintain accurate records of ongoing work.
Engage with local communities in the Dogubayazit region, support educational initiatives, and help coordinate logistics for visiting groups.
Applications open each spring for the upcoming summer season. To apply, send an email to info@NoahsArkScans.com with your name, preferred dates, and a brief description of why you'd like to join the program.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and in good physical health, as the work involves outdoor activity at elevation. You will need a valid passport and should be prepared for warm days and cool evenings in the mountains of eastern Turkey. We recommend arriving a day early to acclimate and explore the region.
Once accepted, you'll receive a detailed orientation packet with travel recommendations, packing lists, and a day-by-day overview of what to expect during your volunteer session.
Your support makes this research possible.
